Environmental Engineering

Our unique team of engineers, scientists, geologists and hydrogeologists has the expertise and experience to handle your environmental issues

N. A. Water Systems offers environmental engineering solutions for the challenges faced by industrial and municipal facilities.

Our team of experts is experienced in the following areas:

Groundwater Drilling

Groundwater Resources
Our geologists and hydrogeologists conduct subsurface investigations to locate groundwater sources. Groundwater modeling is used to determine potential well yield based on aquifer parameters and to locate wells that can be expected to achieve maximum production. Our solutions include the selection of preferred drilling sites, fracture trace analysis, test drilling, pumping tests, well design, well construction, and permitting.

Groundwater Clean-up
We have extensive experience in groundwater clean-up under RCRA and CERCLA regulations, voluntary clean-up, and various state regulatory programs. After determining the source and extent of contamination, we use state-of-the-art software with 3-D graphics to analyze the migration patterns of contaminants, to evaluate plume containment options, and to design the most efficient means of remediation.

Process Water Supply
Our process engineers assess your manufacturing facility's water usage and water quality requirements to ensure that its water resources are used efficiently. Creative water management can lower operating costs by implementing opportunities for conservation, recycle, and reuse.

Wastewater and Sludge Management
We design and implement solutions to make wastewater suitable for discharge or reuse enabling your facility to meet operational, environmental, social, and financial goals. These solutions use both proprietary and conventional technologies to ensure the best use of water resources. Minimization and management of residuals are part of a comprehensive wastewater strategy. Our evaluations consider ways to reuse the residuals or reduce the volume of sludge for disposal.

Air Quality Engineering
Our air specialists prepare construction permits for both major and minor sources (Prevention of Significant Deterioration and New Source Review) as well as Title V operating permits to maximize operating flexibility to the extent possible. We are familiar with the MACT rules as well as state regulations, and we have conducted RACT, BACT, and LAER evaluations for pollutant emissions. Air dispersion modeling is used to support our permit application submittals where appropriate.

Odor Monitoring Control

Odor Control
We identify the source of odors and develop solutions to manage the problem. We offer OdoWatch®, the world's first electronic nose technology, to alert operators of potential odor problems before complaints arise and allow them to adjust chemical dosages. We evaluate both liquid-phase and vapor-phase treatment techniques for effectiveness, ease of implementation, and cost. Our air quality engineers will recommend modifications to existing capture and control equipment or we can design air pollution improved control systems.

Compliance Services
Our environmental compliance services include water and air permitting, stormwater management, and development of compliance plans such as SWPPP, SPCC, PPC, RMP and FRP. Environmental audits are conducted for internal use or due diligence prior to property transfers. We are experienced in environmental sampling, data collection and reporting in accordance with SARA, DMR, PMR, and Emission Fee reporting requirements. We have a proven track record of success in approval of delisting petitions.
